Uzbek is a major Turkic language spoken by over 35 million speakers across Central Asia and Afghanistan. As the most conservative Turkic language in Central Asia, Uzbek is a gateway to almost a millennium of under-utilised and under-studied primary sources. And Uzbekistan is currently experiencing rapid economic growth, unprecedented social and political change, and a thirst for international cooperation.
Uzbek is also the easiest Turkic language for an English-speaker to learn, with almost no irregularities.
Birsöz is excited to be able to offer beginner Uzbek language lessons at Wolfson College. The classes cover the four core skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
